ITALCEMENTI - LAFARGE : A new generation of totally automated factory 

ITALCEMENTI GROUP (CIMENTS CALCIA) and LAFARGE have joined forces to create the « Société Rouennaise de Transformation » (SRT) to provide the cement plants Italcementi Calcia and Lafarge with slag. A grinding centre was built on the Seine river, near Rouen (France). Technord Automation France was the full-line supplier for the whole process control system, under the management of the designing Technical Centre of Italcementi Group located in  Bergamo (Italy).

As the coordinator for automation, Technord Automation France first took on the functional and detailed system analysis of the installations. It developed the process softwares for the installations by using the symbol library that Italcementi Group had elaborated. It designed the architecture and the computing network. It carried out detail engineering of the process control system. 

Technord also built and installed the electric equipment (power supply, PLC and I/O), the boxes for copper or fibre optic networks, it supervised the set up of the Ethernet Industrial network as well as its connexions and tests. In short, Technord executed this whole project up to its smallest details, including testing and optimising the process software.

Technord Automation France created the first reference in Europe for the new integrated process control system of Siemens (PCS7, version 5). Technord Automation France also innovated by initiating the steering by the engine control network. The engine control boxes (ABB) transmit the information in real time to the network, ensuring “intelligent” engine starts. For Italcementi Group, it is also a first.
