: modelling and automating a batch manufacturing process

Worldwide giant in the industry of precious metals and catalytic systems,  Johnson Matthey located in Brussels (Belgium) has entrusted Technord Automation with the modelling and the automating of a batch manufacturing process.

The sequencing of actions to be carried out for the execution of a batch was manual. The operators followed a paper procedure describing the quantities, the introduction phases and the constraints to be respected (temperature, PH, wait state, compound phase).

The mission aimed at automating the sequencing by a flexible management tool for “inflows”, enabling an on-going development towards optimising production and guaranteeing the quality and constancy of finished products.
One of the constraints was the integration of this tool into the existing environment, namely the supervision workstations and PLC.

The skills of Technord enabled to minimise down times and to implement new functions without modifying existing applications.
